When we were robbed, my handbag was included in the haul and we needed to get all our locks changed.
This very emotional situation was made so much easier by Paul's professional and prompt service.
I would recommend Paul at Pick A Locksmith to anyone and everyone.

  • Megan Thomas

I have had Paul round twice in the past month. Our key broke in our lock - I rang Pick A Locksmith and Paul arrived within 20 minutes.
He dealt with the broken key and changed our barrel at our request easily and efficiently. Paul then came back on our request to fit a door chain.
I found Paul to be efficient, friendly and did a fantastic job, I would deffinetly recommend him again.

What is lock snapping?

Lock snapping involves snapping the lock cylinder in two, by applying force, and removing the outside part to expose the lock mechanism. Doing so provides access to the mechanism, allowing the door to be unlocked.

Thieves use tools like hammers and screwdrivers to snap the locks and, worryingly, it can take just seconds to gain access. This technique does not require experience or skill, merely brute force.

The locks most at risk of this type of attack are fitted with a euro profile cylinder. Euro profile locks are found in the majority of PVCu and composite doors installed in the last 15 years and operate in combination with a multipoint lock.

To combat this threat simply upgrade your cylinder to one that is specifically designed to prevent this method of attack, ideally one that meets the TS007 3 star standard.
